I DO NOT THINK IT IS A SIN... > > ?:) > First of all, before this gets out of hand, let me say that I was not trying to chastise you in the original comment about top posting. I feel this conversation has already gone far beyond my intent to make a quick note that its not proper to top post. Below you will find my response. But only read it if you are not prepared to let this die. ---- grab asbestos suit---- It's called etiquette. In the your remarks above we have this line: > READ lines and lines of test that _you_ have already read and > search for _your_ reply Its not about You or Me. Thats what etiquette is all about. There are perhaps a few thousand to a few hundred thousand people reading any given usegroup. Top posting is about them, not You or Me. They do not want to read someone's reply and then have to go down the page to see what was being referenced. Look beyond yourself. By the way sin comment was a joke. Why is it that you take every thing I say so seriously? This is alt.ascii-art! This is supposed to be a fun place. If someone is mentioning sin then its probably in the form of a joke. If this was alt.christian.debate and I said top posting was a sin then you should take it seriously. But it is not. /me is really glad that he did not, after all, use, in the original sin comment, the Greek form of Repent which translates better as Reform. First the use of a needless Greek word, namely Metanoeo, would have been excessive[0] but in addition there is a clear meaning in Metanoeo, aka reform. Repent simply means "admit your mistake" which it would have been nice if done so but instead he remained obstinate. Reform means "don't do it again". Those are two very different meanings. Imagine if at a church they said "reform" instead of the longer "repent, and sin no more". Much more concise the first way, don't you think? With my luck Poster would have known the difference and taken it even more offensively. [0] = An intelligent person always seeks to enlighten.
