try this

for sending

Go to

Tools
options
send   (.)   check both mail and news for plain 
             txt setting

then check your plain txt settings for word wrap
set it to 76, also check Mime


compose -- is next to make sure that both 
boxes have fixed witdh in them Courier New 8pt
is my choice
