Notepad is OK, but doesn't support overtype (pressing
the [ins] key).  Personally, I recommend the font
Lucida Console.  You will find most people recommend
JAVE (http://www.jave.de) or TextPad (http://www.textpad.com)
although I have not personally used the latter.
