That only looks like it has 8 sides. A dodecahedron is a 12-sided polyhedron, i.e. a 3-D object with 12 faces. Each face is a pentagon (though mine are a bit skewed because of the perspective). A dodecagon is a 12-sided polygon, i.e. a flat shape with 12 edges. A dodecahedron seen from the side would look the same as one seen from any direction. I assume you meant to draw a dodecagon - though from the side you can't tell that it wasn't a triangle, a fish or a beautiful ascii-art version of the Mona Lisa.
