The Necronomicon was invented by HP Lovecraft. And he didn't even
actually write it. He just mentioned it in his stories. The 'copies'
of it you see around are pure invention based on Lovecraft's Cthulhu
mythos. One of the 'copies' is just a few pages of mysterious looking
script repeated over and over.
