Hi, Christian. You can download JaVE (Java ascii Versatile Editor) from 
http://www.jave.de/ This is a Java Editor that runs in Windows, Mac OS, 
Linux, etc. but need Java installed. In the same site you have the link 
to download Java 2.0
I run JaVE under both, Linux Red Hat 8.0 and Windows XP.
