I see posts like this in the pl group frequently but it seems I and a few Slackware users I know are the only English speakers doing this kind of work. ---- Forwareded message starts here ----- > Where in the rules does it say we can not talk about the list > operations on the main list? > Where does it say in the rules that we must force people to join > another list to do so? > Where in the rules does it say that talking about the list > operations is trolling and people can get a trolling warning for > doing so? +for the full effect please use a fixed fond like lucinda console The same place in which it states that non-moderators should send emails to people informing them that they should reread the rules regarding private conversation. You ever see that kind of thing? Each person has an idea as to what belongs on which list and what belongs elsewhere. A majority believe that this is the list that is the place for politics, the members list the place for fun, as the tech list is the place to discus the mechanics of the list. I know it would be impossible to get all the people to put a header in the subject of each post like [tech], [mod], [list] and [opps] which would allow for easy filtering. That is not something that is likely to happen because it would require us to test the IQ of each person who wants to join the list. So each function in this organization is given its own place with its own rules of conduct and flavor. Trust me. If you had list operations mixed with the regular conversation we would get more people who would leave and we have enough complaints about cold, and pretentious holier than thou people as it is. Do we need to encourage even more of this? I belong to another group that is split too. I rather like split groups. It creates a place of fun a well as a place of business. It works nicely as not all people want/need to know about how and why each part of the list is the way it is. All those people can sit back and trust that everything is taken care of. If the time comes that one should feel strongly enough to move past the world that is "Ignorance Is Bliss" (IIB) they are welcome come and have fun in the politics. However not all people have this desire but will join in on those types of topics even though they don't have much background in list the nature of lists. Heck we are dealing with people who can not disable line wrapping, trim a reply post, avoid top posting or avoid the temptation to post one liner after one liner. > Forcing people to join this list is wrong. No. Forced sterilization in Organ was wrong. Telling people "If you would like to talk business and operations join the list that has been set up for that at SDGothOrg@yahoogroups.com" isn't some kind of major wrong in the world. Heck, in my book it is such an insignificant little issue that I am using a writing style so odd and obscure that most people will not even get the joke. Such is life. All of the little things go unappreciated or unrecognized. > I really would like to see those questions answered right now without humor. I really would like it if you stopped bitching like one that take Thorazine/chlorpromazine to stop voices from driving them insane. +This line marks the last line of the writing style I noted above :F_P:#################################Mon Dec 30 2002################# '---...____ Faux_Pseudo ________________...---~~~ -- ICQ=66618055 : (Now Playing) http://asciipr0n.com/fp updated=10/30 YIM=faux_pseudo : Rev: udas_0____b__sides_and_rarities/04-slow_dawn.mp3 Look at me when I: Now: mashing_pumpkins/unique/Theaaa-HoneyspiderII.mp3 hit on you : Fwd: /smashing_pumpkins/unique/R-JenniferEver.mp3
