In genral: no. The details of that depend a bit on your software and what you are about to do with it. If - you charge any amount of money or - the program will be on every download page in the internet then I would not do it. On the other hand, if - the stuff is free and - will only live a small life amoung your friends, go ahead. There is very little danger of real trouble but you never know. I got a couple of complaints about pictures in my collection. In one case there was a ancient story connected to the picture and the artist that I didn't know about and the artist didn't care about. But mostly peole don't mind when their pictures are presented nicely in a non-commercial context.
