How about making it more official? It doesn't look like Matthew is taking that responsibility for us. And in my opinion a FAQ is not an ordinary document but belongs to the subject it refers to, in this case a.a-a. If "we" decide to use your new version, with your name as (co-) author or maintainer then it would be official enough. I would like to see that happen as well as the replacement of the older version on web-pages. I only whish that more people would take part in this. _I_ do like your new version. It reads almost like a scientific document but that's OK. For more direct stuff we can always fall back and use the mini-FAQ. In a way I would like to see more examples for the different types of ASCII creations (e.g. diddles, line art, shading, etc.) but on the other hand the text is rather long already.
