The greyscale tables used for the algorithms "1 Pixel per Character" and "4 Pixels per Character" can now be chosen to fit any destination font (not only courier new, as it was until now) - as long as there is a table with information about that font. Well, those tables have to be built first. I have written a utility, that can create them from screenshots of a certain character pattern (see below). At the moment I have tables for the following fonts: Courier New (Courier is almost the same - no extra table) Crystal Elronet Monospace Fixedsys Hyperfont Lucida Console (table is the same as lucida typewriter) Monaco Monotype Ms Gothic Netextmo Ocr A Ocr B Andale Mono Terminal Topaz New VT8x13 Web Hebrew Monospace (Also I have created tables for my new nostalgic daisywheel printer: courier german, elite german, pica german - yes, one can build those tables from scanned print outs) I have seen the fonts listed on http://www.bluedwarf.net/mikechat/ada/aaaminifaq.txt and there still are some I do not have, mostly because I do not have an Amiga or other system here (also don't want to install an emulator now). For Windows it is "Video Console Terminal": I have not found anything about this font on the web. Does it really exist? Now here is my request: If you have any other font for Ascii art than the ones listed above (maybe on your Mac, Linux or Amiga?) you can do me a favour: Display the following text in the desired font and set the font size so that the characters are well formed (the bigger the better): !"#$%&'()*+-/01245679:<=>?@ABDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTVWYZ[\]^`bdfh{|}~ # JavE ASCII character greyscale test V1.0 http://www.jave.de # % % " !! Do not crop the borders or anything! The result should look somewhat like this: http://www.jave.de/download/terminal_9.gif Post the screenshot along with information about font, size and operating system to me. I will then create a greyscale table that will be included in JavE5.0. This table will then be available for three image2ascii algorithms: - The old 4 Pixel per characters algo - a new 1 pixel per charcater algo (now with error correction!) and: - a brand new algorithm combining both of them. You will love it! I love it :) Did you ever be annoyed with having to chose either the 1 pixel or the 4 pixel algorithm? Now there will be no more need to chose: You can have both at once. And you can adjust it to fit your favorite font - as long as you make a screenshot as mentioned above and post it to me :) Many thanks in advance, Markus -- \-/ http://www.jave.de O_< Get JavE4.0 now! \-/ J|a|v|E /| J|a|v|E /-\ Ascii-Art for eyeryone / \ - for free! /-\
