Put "golden ratio" into the google.com search engine, and you will get more data than you can possibly want about this number. Supposed to be the "most aesthetically pleasing" ratio of the height to width of a picture, for example - giving it some semeblence of relevance to the "art" part of ascii-art. I enjoy your picture.
