I have Win98, but use Norton Commander (from 1989) (in 80x40(?) character mode) for almost everything (although unfortunately I have to use the DOS 'copy' command to copy with long filenames) and EDIT for file-editing (much better than horrible Notepad -- indent/outdent blocks of text, automatic indenting of new lines, 9 files open at once, etc...) It's just a lot quicker than Windows -- going from 4 directories down back to the root directory took 7.58 seconds in Windows and 1.19 seconds in Norton Commander. To edit a file with NC, I just select it and press F4. To view a file in hex mode, I just use F3 then F4. It's much more efficient than Windows (shift, right click, wait, open with, wait, wait more, notepad, wait...), which is why I'm still using the 12-year old program :-) -- Philip Taylor philip @ zaynar . demon . co . uk http://robowarriors.ultrastore.com/legoworld.shtml -- If the Earth was made of Lego...
