Mike Throll never had a chance .. the correct answer was not even one of the options !

The Viking Leif Erikson and his crew discovered America about 500 before Christopher
Colombus .. and before them the Indians discovered it.

Christopher Colombus however have the doubtful honour of making it known to and popular
for the "civilised" countries to explore and settle this great continent .. and stealing
the land from the natives that already occupied it .. annilating thoose who stood in their
way and placing the rest in special areas where they did'nt bother anyone else .. sort of
like consentration camps.

The Vikings just kept this knowledge of the new lands to themselves.
