Sigh, just face > it, DOS is dead. It is a complete piece of shit. Even Windows is better. Windows 9x and Windows ME is the Windows environment running on the Dos operating system. Dos will not be dead as long as there is someone who wants to run it. >>Sure it does .. FreeDOS - http://www.freedos.org/ is open-source. > > I thought you were talking about MS-DOS. Dos != MS-Dos The conversation is limited to MS-Dos only when "MS-Dos" is cited by name. There are a number of various Dos operating systems. Dos is the generic name for all of them. > No, you will still have all the shite hanging about that you don't need, > like the intergrated desktop and all the bollocks features that you > can't do anything about, like the GUI. You can dump the Windows 9x GUI, just edit one file in the root directory of the boot disk changing GUI= option. Then delete the windows and Program Files directory trees, then the Windows GUI is history and you are running MS-Dos 7.x. >>( Why does alt-ascii-art threads often go on to discussing very deep and >>nerdy science and tech issues .. are we really all a bunch of geeks ? :) >> ) > > I think so. Speak for yourself, most of us do not eat live animals. We also do not react to the deaths of the people killed by the 9/11 attacks as you do and would not feel as you do when you said about those deaths: "In fact, I've never been more overjoyed. I've just sent off for the plane ticket so I can come over and dance on all the graves, whilst waving my Afghanistan flag in the air." -- I run Linux, no bloody RedHat, Debian, Slackware, or Corel, just Linux. Linux accepted my new hardware without any effort on my part. Windows took one look at my new hardware and committed suicide.
