It does .. but it's not very realistic .. If you have wind enough to raise the
sails then the oars are largely unneeded.

Using the oars to gain extra velocity ?
Hmmm .. it seems unlikely , they would most likely be preparing for battle
rather than using their strenght on rowing - If they were to row then they would
be all fatiqued when they reached the imperial vessel.

Do you have a link to possible imperial vessels ? - I might draw the senario you
wrote.
Asterix images are fine too
