Well, it goes beyond that, IMO. Goth is a subdivision of punk. A lot of punk is about rebellion -- and rebelling against society's prudishness when it came to sex and the body was something it definitely did in the late 70's and early 80's. When goth started, it was a bit of an artistic twist on punk music and fashion. The idea was to take those parts of ourselves that society would like us to hide away and to pull them out into the open. The link to sexual fantasy has never faded from the scene.
