Maybe Ctrl-Cursor-Key should move the selection?? What is your > opinion? Moving the seleted box seems with mouse and keyboard seems good. No fancy CTRL + some key combinations there. > What else do you expect to happen with mouse or keyboard > actions? Well I expect to be able to call most functions from the menu , and or via a hotkey so if I dont have a mouse (or im on a portable with an annoying control method) i can use the keyboard instead. > > It should work like this : > > When you just click on a cell you move the cursor there and activate text mode. > > I have implemented it just this minute. It seems to work fine. Yeah ! Release a version! > One more thing missing is this: Pressing a key when having a selection > should replace the selection and enter the typed key. YES !!!! Oh .. btw I dont like the overwrite cursor .. In window the overwrite cursor in normally a big blinking box .. i'm used to that - seeing a underscore seems weird to me and I have trouble getting used to it. > > Implement ! Dont use the "," char for antialiasing .. it does'nt give a smooth look - Use "." instead. How about a smooth/antialias function to convert something like : XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX To something like : ____ ,o8888888bo_ ,d888888888888o d8888888888888888. ,88888888888888888b ]888888888888888888 88888888888888888P `888888888888888P Y888888888888' `YY8888PP' a BUG .. clicking the Choose Pattern button under the "fill" tool does not bring up a dialog so I can choose a pattern BTW.. I really like the lake effect you can get by shaking a selction and fliping it ____ ,o8888888bo_ ,d888888888888o d8888888888888888. ,88888888888888888b ]888888888888888888 88888888888888888P `888888888888888P Y888888888888' `YY8888PP' ---------------------------------- ,hh8888bb. h888888888888. ,888888888888888b 88888888888888888b ]888888888888888888 `88888888888888888p q8888888888888888' `q888888888888o `o8888888po" """" I have seen some good perspective ascii-drawings lately and I just got an idea : how about some tools/functions that helped making perspective drawings ? One idea could be to use the watermark code to draw perspective lines you could use to line up things correctly. If the compress tool could both enlarge and compress and do it in other intervals than just half/double the size it ccould be helpful for this too Enlarging could probably be done by duplicating the chars. Some chars should probably have more weight than others when choosing the right chars and it might also be done with a "shade" kind of conversing (this set of char's seems to have this shade .. so convert to theese chars .. sort of how the image to ascii does it's magic) Maybe special care should be taken to linedrawing chars like / \ - _ and such .. I would'nt know .. I'd have to see how well a basic version worked first And how about a dropshadow effect : I was thinking that lines like : | ; ,-. / ,' `-' ,' -----' could be made to look like : d8 d8 _d8P8o.,o8P ,od8P `""' P8b8P'' .. you could also do much the same if you had to option to lock a selection or screen and draw under over over that .. Errmm .. This would be layers in photoshop talk .. either advanced like photoshop with mulitple layers or like Deluxe Paint (i believe) where you had two .. a back ground and a foreground and you could switch between them. This way you could just select a thin/thick line draw tool and trace along the original line without deleting the original line. sort of the same effect you could get by coping the original to the clipboard .. tracing over it and then inserting the original from the clipboard over that in foreground mode.
