I have started to combine both tools in JavE 2.0. With those changes
your hope should be 40% fulfilled. I have not received any comments on
it: does it work, is it ok? I am still in doubt about moving the
selection using cursor keys: It seems to be very useful to move around
the selection by cursor keys on the one hand, but on the other hand one
is used to dropping the selection using cursor keys (Textpad, Notepad,
etc.). Maybe Ctrl-Cursor-Key should move the selection?? What is your
opinion? What else do you expect to happen with mouse or keyboard
actions?

I have implemented it just this minute. It seems to work fine.
One more thing missing is this: Pressing a key when having a selection
should replace the selection and enter the typed key. That's already  on
my list for the next release.

Ok, if that's all, it is done and will be available in 2.1 soon.
