I don't know how much other languages drift over time, but the English and American languages are fluid, words change meaning, gain new meanings, and drop out of common use frequently. Sup, to dine 'sup, contracted "whats up" contracted from "hey fellows what are you doing" adopted I belive from Que Pasa (paso) "whats is happening/ has happened" New words and new definitions for words all become valid provided enough people use them over a long enough period of time. With the "P.C." social movement gaining support terms like Fatso or Skinny are not just denigrations but outright vulgarisms. (BTW if you know what a word means, is it a word? ie "fatso" isn't in my dictionary, so is it a valid word?)
