But what about browsers that can not handle CSS?
I prefer using <code><pre>, because I have not seen any browser having
problems with that. It seems to work everywhere in difference to the
'leagel' versions stated in the standards.

I prefer to produce things that _really work_ rather than things that
_should work_.

BTW: I have tested <code><pre> in many browsers (Lynx, Netscape, IE,
Opera, ...) and on many platforms (Windows, Windows NT, Solaris, Linux,
AIX, ...) without having any problems.
