The code is messy, but I had no problems making it into a cgi, so anyone can now try it on http://www.haugdahl.com/bmp2txt/bmp2txt.html The script will have its permanent home there. I may add more bells and whistles to it later, like a better contrast options, then maybe option for webified color text. Script only accepts 256 color bitmaps, this will most likely not change, since adding support for more file formats would make me read up on that stuff. And there's a cap, it will not accept pics larger than 128K. I'll be very happy for comments, suggestions, error messages. back to lurk stig -- www.haugdahl.com
