Just a couple of small comments:- My OCR software reads Cad Text, Book Text and even Your Text, I therefore consider all of them to be text in this the computer age. If you were to agree that ASCII is only true if constructed using a manual typewriter or the like then I would be in complete agreement with your philosophy. Otherwise, progress has already taken hold and there will be no stopping it, however painful this may be! The rest is not worth debating.
