If you have control over the server .. or at least a say in the matter , try installing mod_gzip http://www.remotecommunications.com/apache/mod_gzip/ and store the files in gzipped compressed form. Not only will the website load much faster (about 4 times for a normal site but since ascii-art compress really well I would say that the increase in speed would probably be more) but the disk space used will also be much less. .. And you will save A LOT of bandwidth. > Now, for > example I want to present the information about ASCII art in a > more elaborate way and provide some clear pages that lead to > available tutorials, FAQs and other homepages. Great. :) > Please update your bookmarks, visit my pages regularly > and send me tons of feedback! :) I like the design - I feel that the different item in the dictionary should be easier to browse with the eyes .. try using alternating link colors or alternating tablecolours .. this will require a lot of extra htmlcode though, since a new colours will need to be defined every time .. but perhaps something clever could be made with stylesheets. I have an idea already. Tell me if you would like to me to investigate. And I didn't have to update my bookmarks .. it seems to me that my bookmark have pointed to http://www.ascii-art.de for over a year now .. have it really been that long ? > P.S. USE mod_gzip .. it sounds too good to be true .. but it really works. Sincerly CeeJay .. The ASCII-ART Dictionary ROCKS!
