Shouldn't there be some vowels in that name > also? Vowels are facultative, and only needed when two words can be confused. Tolkien has cases of name inscriptions that are consonant-only, such as the Elendil (L ND L) inscription on his (Elendils) purported (empty) tomb in Unfinished Tales: ----- `,---.---. ----- .' | | | .' `._.' | -' -' `._.' | | And yes, in Sindarin that is pronounced as L D L (Eledil), but UT page 393 explicitely states (spoken by Eorl) "lambe, ando, lambe" as the writing, which requires Quenya pronounciation to be ND. This is surprising, as the name Elendil is Sindarin, like all Gondorian speach. Ef course Elendil is a famous name, which Tauran is not. So I am a lazy elf when it comes to writing. :-) -- Neil Franklin, neil@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ Hacker, Unix Guru, El Eng HTL/BSc, Sysadmin, Archer, Roleplayer - Intellectual Property is Intellectual Robbery
