No problem using Linux: I've already tried this using the GGI
libraries. GGI can draw to FrameBuffer, SVGAlib, etc. And to ASCII
characters :-) You are able to run your normal X session all in Ascii
characters (looks like they're using aalib for this). You've got a
pretty low resolution, but it works.
