You can have a look at a screenshot: http://www.jave.de/preview/pb91.gif Dithering is a good idea and I will think about it. I know lots of algorithms for bitmap images but one has to adapt them to Ascii art. Good circles... Well, I have tried to use the line algorithm (for Bezier curves - but that is similar to drawing ellipses). It seems to work quite ok for big curves, but not for smaller oes. Here are some examples: + | | | | | _.| | / / | | ....---'/ / / | / | / / / | / ._..' / / / | .__...' / | | | ---------.-' / / / / ..' | | / .-.' / / / .-.' ./ | | .-.-' / / / ----------'''_.-' ..' / / / / / .-.' / | _.-' .' / __.-'' ./ / ____...--'' .-' / --------''''' ..' .' .-' / .-.' ./ .-' .' __..-' .' ____..--'' .-.' ....---------'''' .' .-.-' _.-' _.-' __..-'' ____...---'' ------------'''' So there is still alot of work to be done for better circles... > And the ability to define your own patterns for the gradient could be nice : > You could do this : > > 888888888 > OOOOOOOOO > ooooooooo > ::::::::: > ......... > > ......... > ::::::::: > ooooooooo > OOOOOOOOO > 888888888 Well, that can be done by using "8Oo:. .:oO8" as gradient. > Ability to rotate your elipses (possibly by holding down a button while > drawing it .. can anyone remember how Deluxe Paint used to do this ?) Have a look at the curves above - as soon as they look fine ellipse rotation is not a problem any longer. > Ability to change the center of drawing for elipses (by holding down a button > ?) to be like when drawing a square. I have written that down to my list for future improvments. > Different mousepointer when outside the drawing area .. its hard to see where > your "+" pointer is when it's in the grey Already recognized that - will be fixed soon. > A "quick" button to set Java into notepad/Textpad mode.. where it would > perform just like a normal texteditor .. possibly with the same style of > selection as Jave has Hm, would it be alright to add an option for the text-tool to work like in normal texteditors? > I miss the feel that Textpad (with block select mode on) has .. Feel free to tell me all of them. > P.S. the field the shows author in the pattern libray could be a little longer > .. It can't show CeeJay .. I can only fit CJ Will be fixed. At the moment I am working on (almost) unlimited undo/redo. As soon as it seems to work fine I will release the next version of Jave. But I will not have much time during the next weeks, so it may take a while. Markus
