I've sat glued to the television set catching every snippet of news I can find, and I still can't believe that Princess Diana is dead. I didn't know her personally, she's not part of my family, heck I'm not even British, but I still feel the truly great loss that the world has suffered. During those 24 hours, I've watched clips of Princess Diana hugging AIDS patients and holding hands with lepers, and I'm inspired by her compassion. I also watched her brother, the Earl Spencer, say that he had always believed that the media would be the death of her and that the editors of tabloid newspapers have blood on their hands. It doesn't stop there. We have blood on our hands. We're the ones who buy those magazines and newspapers. We, in this free market society, have created the demand for those pictures. Our hunger and demand is so insatiable that the asking price for the last photos ever taken of the most photographed woman in the world is over a million dollars. The media needs a shot of morality and to take responsibility for their actions. If anyone did to someone what the Paparazzi do and didn't have a camera, they'd be guilty of a crime: harassment, stalking, and now manslaughter. I pray to God that some good could come from Diana's tragic death. I wish I was as brave, compassionate, and influential as Princess Diana, then I could make a difference. I'd tell the world to BOYCOTT TABLOID JOURNALISM. I'd make it illegal to harass people and invade their privacy. This is my way of doing something. I've got the world at my fingertips with the internet. I've reached you. I'm sending this message to every Internet address I can find. I ask you to do the same. Send it to every address you know and keep sending it till someone listens. Better yet, send a message to the tabloid journalists where it hurts the most, their pockets. DON'T BUY THEIR TRASH. DON'T LET WHAT HAPPENED TO DIANA HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. Thank you! Cleo cleo2413@hotmail.com
