Well, I think maybe it might need to be reworded, but I'm for continuing to post it. Firstly, because this is an ascii newsgroup and control codes don't belong here. Secondly, they are still a very large pain. I don't know about other systems, but my lowly little Unix box doesn't understand them and at best they get mangled into garbage and at worse (if I'm reading News through my primitive command line news viewer - which I sometimes do - or even "worst" if I'm not paying attention and mail one to myself to file) it can actually do funky things to the window (terminal emulator) that I am working in. It might not be anything unrecoverable - but it is a major annoyance. There really are those of us who are still using computers other than pcs and when you've been doing this as long as I have you tend to stick with the old tools that you are the most familiar with. And the old tools, still work the old way. (Gosh, I hope this makes sense. :^) Meanwhile, I for one, would really appreciate it if anytime someone posts non-ascii characters to the newsgroup they would please uuencode it first. (I know, another oldie but a goodie.) Just my thoughts. Sandy
