I am trying to get it sorted... I started lurking in aaa and raa in November of 1995 -- two years ago... at that time, Bob Allison was still moderating ... I believe that he stopped moderating in July of the 1996. I know he stopped moderating just before I really starting making the ASCII pics in Aug/Sept of '96-- Don Bertino took over then.... he held it up until December of 1996. The (raa) newsgroup has been inactive for 11 months. The latest email from Don indicates that he is back as moderator. So the FAQ should read: 11.What happened to rec.arts.ascii? rec.arts.ascii is a moderated newsgroup, meaning that all messages sent to the newsgroup had to pass through an intermediary (the moderator) who checked them for appropriateness before sending them to the newsgroup proper. In the case of rec.arts.ascii, the moderator was Bob Allison (otherwise known as `Scarecrow'), and he retired from the job in July 1996. The newsgroup was inactive from December 1996 until November 1997. Don Bertino (bertino@netcom.com) is at the helm as moderator. Post away. --------------------------------------- If anyone has more to add/delete... let me know... let's get this accurate... so we can all update our copies of the FAQ on the web and those that will be posted regularly to the group... -joan
