Pete had a bass clef in his drawing. One of my colleagues recently likened reading the alto clef to being able to speak and read Urdu if English were your first language. :^D And to answer the rhetorical question, some of my colleagues would say categorically that I have not studied music at all, just because I insist on playing the viola. (And yes, I believe that is yet another viola joke. If you search the web, you can find pages and pages of viola jokes.) Using my web ferret, I found this picture of an alto clef at: http://hookomo.aloha.net/~khigaki/keynote/ac_drill.htm Here are some alto clefs (middle C is in the centre line) || ) ||/ ||\ || ) _ || | || | ||== || | || _| . || ,-. || ) ||'==; || ) || `-' ' . ,-. || ) ||'==; || ) ' `-' And here are two one line alto clefs: |{ K NOTE: If you hit the reply button, add an "e" to the "freent"; its absense is to stop the torment of automatic mailers. -- ha W | / ha ---%^^,|@@-#= ^ |/ These pitchforks ha / >|\/ _ _ /_\ |\ make VERY /_| / \ _ |> |_ / \| \ interesting sounds! < \ <_ |\ |_ < \_/ llizard aka ejm ^^|\ cq547@freenet.toronto.on.ca / \
