Date: 1997/05/12 Message-ID: <337701C8.41C67EA6@sm.luth.se.nospam>#1/1 X-Deja-AN: 241045711 Organization: University of Lulea, Sweden Newsgroups: alt.ascii-art The problem with animations have so far been that they don't work in Internet Explorer, you have to have a fairly new version of Netscape. Today I happened to get in touch with this browser and looked at a couple of the animations on my homepage ( http://jota.sm.luth.se:80/~e93-vkn/pics/ascii/ ) and saw that the problem might not be totally unsolvable... I have experimented a little and come up with this: http://jota.sm.luth.se:80/~e93-vkn/pics/ascii/explorerexperiment.html It isn't perfect (in fact it's not even good) but it is a beginning to a solution... The major problems seem to be: 1. How to get a non-proportional font into the little text box. 2. How to make "unbreakable" space characters in Java (I mean a Java equivalent to the   that I found for html...). I used the character ':' as an approximation to a ' ' in the example above. Please, all hackers out there, get to work on this little "nut".... -- :) Veronica Karlsson ( e93-vkn@sm.luth.se http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/ ) ( llizard's fanclub: http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/llpages )
