Which is very uncool. YES! I'm actually agreeing with Sven!!! My answer to your question is no, claiming that you do something does not suffice. There has to be some affirmation of your abilities or capabilities. If you claimed to be a sprinter, you would have to provide examples of your speed (ie, your time). But as for art, that relies upon how someone views your work-- it is completely subjective. Right now the only analogy that I can come up with is gymnastics or diving. Scores are given based upon performance and aesthetic value. Judges are qualifed by being certified in their area of expertise. As for ASCII art, there are no certifications or qualifications (none that I know of, at least). There are art degrees. But I wonder if ASCII is considered a valid medium... Jon Melusky and I discussed this once... he is an art major. Perhaps he can add to this discussion...
