WHAT five-pointed star? An asterisk can have has many or as few points as the font designer wants to give it. Anyway, a six-pointed asterisk is much easier for the person designing the keycaps to draw. Three lines -- zhoop, zhoop, zhoop, done. Besides, before font madness swept the world, NOBODY CARED how many [expletive deleted] points an asterisk had (grumble, grumble, grumble...).
