i think she was referring to the caret ^ which is used to indicate the factors
of potentially very large numbers...
such as : 4^2 = 16 
when 2 is used, it's a number squared
when 3 is used, it's a number cubed
beyound that, it the number to that power
as is 6^7
6 to the 7th power.
