Yes, but the image quality will suffer _greatly_.  

There are only like 64 or so ascii characters so if you encode one
pixel from the picture with one character that lets you get... 64
colors out of the pictures.  Yuck.  

But suppose you encode 4 pixels from the picture with one ascii
character, then you'd only get... 64/4 = 16 colors.  Yikes.  Even
worse.
