These are the credits I have:
     Written by Amanda McBroom;
        sung by Bette Midler 

However, whenever I think of this song, I picture Janis Joplin.  I
guess because the song was in the movie 'The Rose' about the life
of Janis.  I don't think she ever sang it though.

Of course, I could be wrong.  ;^)
