Are you tired of the plain old line at-a-time text file display utilities like 'cat', 'page', 'more', or 'less' ? Then you may want to chase away those text display blues with 'scat'. :-S I have written a Perl script called 'scat' that provides a more creative display of consecutive screens for users running ANSI emulations. This program is not meant to be a replacement for the above standard paging programs, in fact it lacks back-up and skip-screen features and keyboard access when piping. Still, I have found it to be a versatile little tool that all ASCII artists might want to have around to slide-show their work or just make the simple viewing of text files less boring. 'scat' was developed using Perl5 running under OS/2 but it seems to work equally well in most other environments that include a Perl processor. 'scat' is freeware but please read the comments in the script for important instructions and notices. Feedback is welcome. You can obtain the script by fingering the following ID, thusly, to capture the finger text to a file on your system: finger scat@twinbrook.cis.uab.edu > scat If you wish to contact me personally, please send e-mail to: samuell@cis.uab.edu Enjoy !!!
