I will also post animations entitled '3tao.VT' and '5tao.VT'. Save this article into a file and run 'uudecode' or equivalent software to create a file called '1tao.VT'. Then you will need to obtain my Perl script called 'looper' by executing the following finger command: finger looper@twinbrook.cis.uab.edu >looper redirecting the output into a local file on your system called 'looper'. Instructions in this file tell you how to use this 'looper' program to continuously display and control the speed (somewhat) of the '1tao.VT' animation or any other similar repeating ASCII/ANSI/text animation. The playing speed of the animation will vary depending on the speed of the processor, physical display, and any communication lines you may have to use to connect to the host where the animation is running if it is not local. I am presently working on some object-oriented Perl modules to faciltate ASCII/ANSI animation. This particular animation file is a product of this effort. It uses the 'invert' and 'display' methods to give the appearance of an oscillating Tao symbol. It was necessary to modify the details of the original art by Normand Veilleux and Wills Towles to give the almost hypnotic effect (at higher speeds) that I observe on my PC. The animation runs in a region that is 79 columns wide and 24 lines long and is best viewed on a black screen. Please do not delete or alter the title or credits on this or any other ASCII art work. If you wish to contact me personally, please send e-mail to: samuell@cis.uab.edu Enjoy !!!
