My suggestion for making the saucer ships is to take an ASCII version of Star Trek's Enterprise (TOS or TNG), then delete every part of it except for the saucer section, and maybe add a fin to the end. I don't know whether that would be plagiarism, but if you could add an ASCII White House, put the Saucer Ship above it, and blast the white house to pieces, that would be an interesting creation.
