ID4 (I never understood how that stands for Independence Day) had three
types of space ships: the mother ship (1/4 the mass of the moon), the
saucer ships (15 miles in diameter), and the individual fighter ships
(the ones which the saucer ships launched against Will Smith & co.)

My suggestion for making the saucer ships is to take an ASCII version
of Star Trek's Enterprise (TOS or TNG), then delete every part of it
except for the saucer section, and maybe add a fin to the end.  I don't
know whether that would be plagiarism, but if you could add an ASCII
White House, put the Saucer Ship above it, and blast the white house to
pieces, that would be an interesting creation.  It's a fantastic movie.
