Date: 1996/07/16 Message-ID: X-Deja-AN: 168571827 organization: University of Minnesota - Morris content-type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII mime-version: 1.0 newsgroups: alt.ascii-art Hey peoples, Just the other day, I got a new text editor from a buddy of mine who claimed that it was "better than anything that I was currently using in Windows. Since I don't use Windows much, (personal preference, not bait to start ANOTHER horrible pointless OS war, don't even think about it, what OS I use is something that I came to decide on my own - don't try and change my mind, I am not forcing anything on anyone, use what you want I could care less, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, whatever you are using right now is the coolest machine ever - death to all the infidels that dare to have an opinion that contradicts yours since obviously anyone using anything other than [insert your OS name here] is a complete moron, STOP THINKING ABOUT STARTING AN OS WAR HERE NOW. Thanks.) that wouldn't be too tough. So after copying it to my machine (freeware, cool it.) I used it to make some more DIlbert ascii art, without even WONDERING about the type of font. Now that was stupid. So, now I have all this work that is just hosed. And to make matters worse, I no longed own a copy that I can modify. (Don't ask, just trust me on this) So here's the deal: Somewhere, in all this mess below, there are about 5-6 smallish ascii pictures. First drafts, so some are kinda rough. Completely out of whack on anything outside of that program, which wasn't that great anyways. So I am deciding to hold a contest. I am posting this at 12:00 a.m. July 17, CST, USA. Right now it is just a jumble of characters, but that is the challenge. Take this post and format it so that someone using a single (mono?) spaced editor (you know, the de facto internet standard) can view the pictures. Mail me a copy and post a corrected copy to this group. The first correct letter that I receive at this address, my time, will get the prize. (Don't know what it is yet, but that makes it more interesting, no?) You only have to format the pictures, skip the text. Some of you might be concerned that you won't get this post until much later than some others will, thanks to your flaky news server. I understand that this IS a problem, but take heart that the prize offered is nothing to fret about. (Hey, I'm a poor college student) Give it a shot anyways. Who knows, maybe no one is willing to waste their time re-arranging this post. You might be the first. I will post the winners name, with his/her/it's permission, and the prize awarded, after it ends. Here is the post, in all of it's deformed glory! Good luck! ----- Begin Hashed Post Here ----- Our hero, sitting at his Be Box proto. His hair might look a little funny depending upon what you are using to read this. If you don't like his hair, you can modify it how you want. (I would suggest these alternatives: '"'"'"', `'`'`'`', and ~^~^~^~. Find one you like.) Try not to look at his hand. 8^) (~~~~~~~~~) | | | | | | .--------.. I am going to hide behind the 'too tired to do something about it right now' excuse. Also, this little bit of trivia popped up when I was 'reseaching' (read: sneaking into the local bookstore and reading all the Dilbert books that I don't own) him: his eyebrows change periodically from the 'unibrow' look to a regular dual look. At least that's easy to change. @ @ @@@ ..-.. @@@ @@@@' _ _ '@@@@ @( . . )@ | (_) | | _ | |_ _| /|_'---'_|\ / | '\_/' | \ / | | | | \ -abg Well, after looking at this again, it is not THAT badly out of whack.
