Try reading the help file in dos entitled ansi.sys. This will give you a list 
of the basic codes to put in to view colour in dos text.
For an easier approach to creating colour ansi pictures, search for TheDraw. 
Its probably in the oak.oakland.edu archive, with the name TDxxxx.zip for 
whatever version it is currently in. Good luck :)
