It depends on which Language Code Page your computer has been set up to use. You get to choose this at Set-Up when you first start your computer. Consult your User's Manual to see how to access it now. The American set is Code Page 437, the Mulitlingual set is Code Page 850, the Portuguese set is Code Page 860, the Canadian-French set is Code Page 863 and the Nordic set is Code Page 865. Luckily the ASCII code for the pound is available in all these sets and it's also the same ASCII code: 156. If you hold down the ALT key and type this number on the Number Key Pad you may get a pound sign on your screen. That works in the middle of my word-processing programme on my PC but won't work while I'm typing on the InterNet through a terminal programme. For instance, if I were to try it now I would find myself logged out :-) You will probably find the same is true for you. - RLW -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rosemary Lyndall Wemm Rosemary from DownUnder _--_|\ Clinical Neuro-psychologist lyndall@haywire.DIALix.oz.au Perth / \ Perth, Western Australia berry@perth.DIALix.oz.au -->\_.--._/ ------------------- http://haywire.dialix.com/~lyndall -----------------v-
