This is a fun idea. I await the first ASCII 'sampler' eagerly. Not quite the sme thing... Ulichney`s book `Digital Halftoning' had an enlarged section of a Jacquard fabric. The artist has made a face out of light and dark. You can see they have faced all the same problems as we do - trying to get a tight pattern for halftones; trying to get a smooth gradation between grey levels; trying to render features that don't quite fit an integral number of pixels. (apologies for no ascii-art - new job, new editor, new newsreader, new font. Hope this message comes out OK). -- adBBba. Ba. A VgooodB ,B B. B Richard Kirk b ,B" _ S"b B.Bb .dBb .B dBBB. B.aP" _"B.
