Is it too obvious to say artists are interested in art?  And that they
go into business for artistic freedom?  That a yen to do a little
accounting has nothing to do with it?

But (and there is always a but) you have to keep records.  Not only
for the friendly folks at the IRS.  But because you need to kno0w how
you're doing.  Are, for instance, your prices high enough to cover all
your costs?  If you're losing money on every sale, you won't make it
up in volume,.  So, you have to know, but it can be a hassle.
