The codes either get stripped from the files or at worst they can foul up the software operations at some Sites round the world. Very few Internet users seem to be aware of the dangers of using control codes and machine code symbols in postings to newsgroups. May I also suggest that these uuencoded animation files might be better placed in say alt.binaries.pictures.ascii with just a Pointer in alt.ascii-art newsgroup annnouncing that the file has been posted. The main disadvantage of alt.binaries.pictures.ascii is that many Sites expire postings after 48 hours so postings can be missed. An alternative group might possibly be alt.binaries.pictures.misc which gets used by many newsgroups in the mainstream hierarchies that do not know how to deal with Binary files. Binaries are not normally acceptable in mainstream groups. Bye,
