Presumably this takes in any GIF format picture, and converts it into another picture composed entirely out of standard ASCII characters, such that the output picture is the closest possible approximation to the original GIF picture. Does such a program exist ? If so, where can I get it ? If not, how can one go about doing this ? I guess this would be kind of like half-toning or dithering, but with more primitives to use than just dots and spaces to get both the gray-scale _and_ edges right.
