Date: Fri, 8 Apr 94 19:40:36 GMT Lines: 37 To set up a vt100 animation in a .plan first create your animation (see "How To Do ESC Sequences [Beginners Level]" for how to create esc. seq.). Since most $HOME directories are kept small, a symbolic link to the tmp or temporary file space has to be used. This can be set up as follows: $ ln -s /where/your/anim/is/foo.bah /$HOME/.plan $ chmod a+x foo.bah $ chmod a+r foo.bah Whenever you replace foo.bah, make sure you check the file permissions that they are world-readable. -rwxr-xr-x 1 sstaetz 1890 Dec 1 02:29 foo.bah* The structure of a .plan should be small enough for those who have poor connections don't go comatose waiting for the .plan to finish, and not too short that no one knows they even saw a .plan . Generally, keep one event/movement per line and under 500 lines (for .plans). **Always** include the reset ( ^[0m ) at the very end of your .plan regardless of whether or not you think you set enough resets to be ok. Don't risk someone's wrath of bad screen reset after your plan. Never include extended ascii chars (i.e., anything that isn't on your keyboard now, don't put in a .plan) most systems filter these out and all you see is control characters. **NEVER** try to use the "beep" (hex 07), enough systems like to think that was an error and will cut the remaining data flow short on you, not worth wrestling with .
