 He transcends race.  Lots of irony here.  First L.A. has a black man they
 beat into oblivion (or great wealth, or both). Then they (we) have a black
 man whom they treat in a special way

 By the way, I think he deserved the special treatment. He has one of the
 most recognizable faces in the world. It's not fair to question the
 judgment of the LAPD after the fact on this one. There was no reason to
 expect him to run. Not only is he uniquely recognizable, he had come back
 from Chicago voluntarily.
