 One odd angle to all this for me is that I met him once, a long time ago.
 Even then I wasn't big on sports, but he may well have been the first
 famous person I ever met.  I even had his autograph, for a while.

 I have a hard time linking that memory to those long slow helicopter
 tracking shots and double murders.
