 Whatever I end up thinking about this, he left his children (and I do
 assume he did it at this point) asleep inside while their mother was bloody
 and dead on their front step. That's the part that freaks me the most.

 That plus his hand permanently in his carry-on throughout the flight to
 chicago -- was he clinging compulsively to his weapon, afraid to let go for
 some psychiatric reason?

 Just like Shelby Coffey, editor of L.A. Times, who stood off a crowd of
 rioters on the first floor of the Times, stood off people who had broken
 through the ground floor windows.  He held them off with a pair of
 scissors.  Former publisher Dave Laventhol says he still had them gripped
 tightly in his hand hours later.  Didn't even know he did until Dave
 pointed it out to him.

 I credit that moment with the L.A. Times' bizarre, obsessive tenacity
 about political correctness since the riots.  It is so strong, it's a joke.
 It is like it's a Prime Directive (the political correctness) not the news
 itself.

 This may be getting into topic drift, so I'll stop.
